2012 on a personal level was truly full of learning & blessing in life & work.
We are blessed to have an amazing journey with beautiful weddings & family portrait throughout the year. On a personal level, I felt overwhelmed with all the love I’ve able to witnessed via my clients and honoured being able to include my presence at their special moments of their life.
It’s the beginning of a new year and don’t I have many plans to look forward including my new studio in early February. I’m truly excited to share this joy with all of you.

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2012 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
600 people reached the top of Mt. Everest in 2012. This blog got about 6,900 views in 2012. If every person who reached the top of Mt. Everest viewed this blog, it would have taken 12 years to get that many views.
Summary: 10.11.2012 Meet Shairah & Amar Aziz, the most daring couple up to date I’ve ever met. They are experts in skydiving, paragliding, scuba diving…etc. They would jump off the plane at over 10,00 feet high with pleasure and parachute of course. I knew Amar Aziz from one of my photography class and it was an honour when he asked me to shoot his wedding. It was my first experience shooting a Malay wedding and I am grateful to their patience guiding me through the details of a Malay wedding, I’ve learned a lot and fell in love with it : )
Let me share with you what I’ve learned:
Akad Nikah (marriage contract), which is the legal and religious part of the wedding. The groom signs the marriage contract and agrees to provide the bride with a mas kahwin (mahar, literally ‘marriage gold’ in form of money or goods or anything as requested by the bride). The mas khawin is a symbol to show that the men is willing and are prepared to build a family with the lady he chose to get married to.
The couple’s hands are dyed with henna during the berinai besar (great henna-ing) ceremony where the bride’s hair is also trimmed, eyebrows shaped and make-up applied by Mak Andam. Then the bride puts on her tudung (hijab or headscarf) to cover their hair and a selendang, or embroidered and beaded shawl over that. A crown is also placed on top of the shawl and the bride is ready for the Bersanding ceremony.
Bersanding (enthronement) begins with the groom’s march towards the bride’s home with friends, relatives, musicians and people waving bungamanggar (palm blossom). The main part of the bersanding involves the seating of the bridal couple on a dais and sprinkling them with yellow rice and scented water by family members, relatives and guests as a sign of blessing. Each guest will receive a Bunga Telur (egg flower), as a sign of fertility.
The couple are considered royalty for the day, where various royal customs are performed for them, including musicians playing court music a display of pencak silat.
Once again, congratulations to them !

It was one of the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen over many years I live in this city. It’s like someone forgotten to turn the lights off and all of us must have wish never had to inside our heart, yes?

Last week I was asked by one of my dear friend to photo shoot his parent-in-law celebrating of their 36th wedding anniversary together , I say yes simply the picture of two person being together for 36 years worth its weight in gold if not diamond (probably 50 years of wedding anniversary qualify for diamond) They have a big family compare to us with only my mom and my sister (R.I.P our beloved dad and loving husband) , so you can imagine the atmosphere are hustle and bustle in the restaurant we’re in (Double Tree by Hilton Hotel) including four of their grandchildren running around while one is just six month old still learning to crawl. I like big family, that’s about the size I want when I have my own family : )

Summary: It’s the engagement dinner and especially a special night for me seeing my best buddy for over 20 years now is finally tying the knot and marrying his spouse for eternity, Wendy. Although I only met Wendy not more than three times as of today but there is no doubt that I believe she’s the one for my buddy and I’m just happy for both of them together starting a family. Congratulations once again, Melvin & Wendy ! Hope you like our photos and videos on your special night : )
